Setup
Before installing the SulfurLab plugin, you should check that you meet the requirements.
Requirements
SulfurLab needs Paper or Spigot running Minecraft 26.2+ (the Chaos Cubed update that adds Sulfur Cubes). Paper forks like Purpur or Pufferfish work too.
Because the server runs on Java 25, SulfurLab is built and run against Java 25 as well — make sure your server's JVM matches.
Using CraftBukkit is not supported and the plugin will not work. For best performance, Paper is recommended.
Sulfur Cubes are a vanilla entity from the Chaos Cubed update — no extra mods are required, just a server new enough to know about them.
Download & Install
To download the SulfurLab plugin, follow these steps:
- Visit the official download page:
- Modrinth (Recommended)
- GitHub Releases (For development builds)
- Download the
.jarfile compatible with your server version. - Place the downloaded file inside your server's
/plugins/folder. - Restart your server to generate the configuration files and complete the installation.
After the first start you'll find config.yml and messages.yml inside /plugins/SulfurLab/. A sulfurs.json file is created the first time a cube is saved.
Update Checker
On startup SulfurLab checks Modrinth for a newer version (this runs once, asynchronously). When an update is available, OPs are notified as they join. Both the check and the notification can be turned off in config.yml under update-checker.
##All ready?
Once the plugin is installed and your server is running smoothly, head to Getting Started to spawn and tune your first Sulfur Cube.
